Kooler's 2nd CD - Human Racing From start to finish Kooler's 2nd CD was a four month project, even we were surprised at how quick the project went. Not only were the recordings much quicker to do (we knew the gear and the software much better by this time) but also the song writing was improving - six of the songs were written during the construction of the 2nd CD - these were: Human Racing; Follow; Listening To Cowboys; Walk In My Dreams; Sail Away With Me and Heroes. In fact the title song for the CD was not written until around month two of the project. I think the decision to include drums proper had really been taken whilst we were gigging rather than whilst we were actually in the studio - I still don't think we've got to grips with the drumming side of our music just yet but the stuff we got down is a definate improvement on our earlier times. People: We missed some close friends during the making of the 2nd CD. Jim Donaldson was now in Scotland & Jim Hopwood couldn't get involved this time because his wife was too unwell. I managed to persuade Jim Donaldson to do some work on 'Listening To Cowboys' when I sent a CD up to him and asked for his assistance - I'm sure that this song would have been a lot poorer without his help. With this CD we were however rescued by James Loynes who came in and added a little bit of class to some of the tracks on the CD - Thanks James! Technical: We used LogicStudio8 throughout the recorings and all of the drums were cobbled together from the audio loops that were supplied with Logic. This time I knew how to get the sound just right for the CD release so there was no delay when mastering took place. Kevin
