Rosa (4:20)

And you know just how it feels, in those years when you are young
When the only words that matter are the words that you have sung
When there’s no one there can tell you, it will sometimes end in pain
‘Cause you haven’t seen the dark clouds ‘till it rains

We played with other children in those years when we were young
But we always played together in the rays the sun had brung
And we chose each other’s sides in the games we used to play
Lost within those long hot summer days

Where are you now my Rosa? Are you ‘cross the barren sea?
And come the light of morning do you sometimes think of me
And on this earth that’s turning, where once you called my name
I wonder if my Rosa feels the same

At the going down of the sun
Just when your new life has begun
As you try to sleep this night
Think of my love it burns so bright

Ho! Rosa said her mother we have to go away
Your father’s work has moved us and although we’d like to stay
Sometimes it is my Rosa that God decides our fate
There’s nothing can be done, it’s far too late

So they placed her things aboard the train and as the whistle blew
I knew I’d lost my Rosa there was nothing I could do
And all my life I wondered did she ever call my name
I lost my Rosa on that dreadful day

Where are you now my Rosa? Still ‘cross the barren sea?
And come the light of morning do you sometimes think of me
And on this earth that’s turning, where once you called my name
I wonder if my Rosa feels the same
I wonder if my Rosa feels the same

Performance: Wayne - Main Vocal; Paul - Bass Guitar & Main Harmony; Kevin - Charango & Classical Guitar; Guest Musicians: James Loynes - Trumpet (Fantom x8); Dave Green - Rhythm Guitar & Harmony

Songwriter's Notes: I love the word brung - I feel I should start a campaign for its inclusion in the English language. People have said I should re-write the piece so that brung isn't used (this would be easy to do) BUT I love it so, I’m claiming poetic license.
